restoring shortcuts after a system crash (2 posts)

Fetch 5.3 Mac Pro running OS 10.5.1. System crash forced an erase and install. I have backed up data but didn't do an "export of shortcuts". What are my options (if any) to get the old shortcuts into Fetch?

Thanks for any guidance that may be forthcoming.

    Hi,

You should be able to retrieve the file that stores your shortcuts from your backup in order to restore your shortcuts.

The file is named com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.Shortcuts.plist, and it's in your user's Preferences folder, that is:

    /Users/username/Library/Preferences

Once you find the file in your backup, make sure that you have quit Fetch, and then copy it to the same location in your re-installed system. Then run Fetch.

If you've run Fetch since doing the re-installed, there may be a default shortcuts file of the same name already in the Preferences folder of your reinstalled system; you should just replace it with the file from your backups (but be very careful to make sure you are replacing in the correct direction).

Please let us know if you need more information or have more questions.

    Thanks,
