I'm using fetch 3.0.3 on an iMac.

I was uploading two files recently and pressed the stop button before the upload had finished. When I tried to delete the incomplete files, I got the following error message:

"Server file error:DELE:Couldn't get file status for NewFNB of Crestview.tif." I can't even delete them when passive mode is turned off.

Is there any way to override this error message and delete them anyway?

This is the transcript file that was generated:

"257 "/webdocs/data/FNB ad stuff" is current directory.

It looks like there's a problem on the server side. If you keep getting that message I would contact the server administrator to see if the files can be deleted from the server side.

If you need a quicker fix one idea would be to rename the files in question. If that works you could then upload replacements.

    Thanks,

Thanks, Jim! I appreciate your response.

I did try contacting the people running the server; they couldn't delete the files, and gave me a link to the Fetch web site.

I couldn't do anything to the files--rename, delete, or download them. The error message just keeps popping up.

Could you post the entire contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you try to rename and/or delete the file?

I'm surprised by the server administrator's answer; if they can't delete a file something is seriously wrong with the server.

    Thanks,

The error message that the server is sending back -- "Couldn't get file status for NewFNB of Crestview.tif" indicates a server problem. There really isn't anything you can do about it -- it's up to Earthlink to fix the problem or delete the files themselves. I would not accept them saying that they can't delete the files -- in order to maintain their servers they have to be able to delete files.

    Thanks,

It might have been a case of Indian tech support.
I tried contacting them about it again yesterday, spent about 40 minutes with online tech help, and they wrote it up for the engineers. They called me this morning so it should be resolved soon.

Thanks for taking a look at it; I appreciate it!
