server going down (4 posts)

    I've been using Fetch for a few years and very happily too I might add. However my iBook Pro died (hot tea poisoning) and now I have an iMac-I transferred the programme from my backup hard drive.

    When I connect and "put", after sending one file apparently successfully, a message pops up "FTP server sent an unexpected response....server going down"

    I checked in transcript and it appears the transmission is successful but sometimes it's not according to the recipient.

    I usually send jpg or tif files and often in separate folders.

    I'm sure it's something simple but FAQs doesn't seem to cover it. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    Switch to using Fetch on an iMac shouldn't cause this sort of problem. We'd like to look at the transcript ourselves, to see what's going on. Could you please do the following?

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server, and upload a file.
    * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and see if we can diagnose the problem.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for responding so quickly. I did nothing different when sending a couple of days after I could send nothing and everything kicked in and is now no problem. When I get a chance I can send you the info from tools if it helps.
    Many thanks

    Hi Peter,

    Glad to hear everything's working now; it sounds like there was some temporary problem with the server. I don't think you need to send us any info since there currently isn't a problem, but thanks for the offer. But if you run into problems again, let us know and we'll look into it.

    Thanks,
