New user trying the program. I can access my server space but when I try to upload, I get the following message...

"Fetch could not put "frame1.html" because the FTP server encountered an error accessing a file or folder. If you entered a file name, folder name, or URL, check that it is correct. Server responded; "Access is denied". "

I tried different files and in different areas, all with the same error. I also made sure I had permission to upload to these folders. I contacted my host and they could see nothing wrong. Here is the transcript. Any suggestions?

Well, I am sitting here in a bar in Shanghai and I can upload to my server space. That must mean that my provider is somehow blocking access to the site. I know that they were blocking some ports but I was told that they had unblocked me. Not too sure how to continue. If he has actually unblocked everything, then is there a way I can get around this blockage, like a different port number or something? It is still strange that I can see my site but can't upload to it. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

From your transcript, it does not look like you were having a blocked port problem; if the problem was a blocked port, you wouldn't have been able to connect to the server, or get the error response from it.

It looks like either a server problem, or a router problem. The first thing I would do is try uploading again at the same place where you had the problem before, and see if you get an error again. It may have just been a temporary server glitch.

If that doesn't work, could you please tell us how you connect to the Internet at the problem location? Via wireless, or using a router to share the Internet connection between multiple computers?

    Thanks,

Okay, I talked to the tech guy here and he went off, did something, and now it works. It was not a temporary error, but a setting of some sort. His English is not very good so I didn't understand what he did, but it works. Thanks for the help.
