I have been using fetch for a few years now and have never had a issues but the people who host our SIS system recently changed their ftp server and now I can't use fetch to connect to it. Filezilla works just fine but I do not like the program? Can anyone help?

SFTP Connection tp "X.X.X.X" could not be opened because the connection to the SFTP server could not be established.

    Hi,

Each SFTP server has an "SSH host key" that enables secure transfers. When you connect to an SFTP server, Mac OS X stores that server's key for future use. If the server's key changes and no longer matches the one stored on your Macintosh, this could indicate a security problem. Some programs ignore the error; Fetch instead refuses to make the connection.

So, my guess is that since they made changes to the server, the server's key has changed and that's the reason your Macintosh can't connect. You should try clearing your Mac's store of SSH keys, so that you can get a fresh key from the server.

Please do the following to clear your SSH keys:

    * In Fetch, choose Fetch Help from the Help menu.
    * In the help window, search for "known hosts".
    * Double-click on the "RSA host key differs warning" help topic (it should be the one at the top of the list).
    * A help topic opens in the help window.
    * Scroll down to the "Delete the known_hosts file for me" link.
    * Click the link, and follow the instructions.

Once that's done, try connecting to your server using SFTP again. If you're warned that "the authenticity of the host can't be established" (you may or may not be), that is normal and you should continue.

Please let us know if this fixes the problem or not.

    Thanks,

Is there a way to connect to a SSH-1 box with Fetch?

    Posted 13 years ago #

    Hi Chuckysal,

If your SSH-1 box accepts SFTP connections, then Fetch should be able to connect to it using SFTP.

Fetch does not support other kinds of FTP over SSH connections; only SFTP.

Please let us know if that doesn't answer your question.

    Thanks,

I having created a fan website for a class project. The website links to my assignments page in my website. The issue is that when I fetched the website there were errors that I was going to go back and correct and then fetch again. However, once I fixed the errors and fetched, two of the four pages in Firefox are how they were previously, meaning they aren't fixed. I've fetched over and over again trying to figure out why and it is still the same. However, in Safari the website is perfect. The website is shannonmdelaney.com and the assignments page has the link to my project. Any help would be appreciated!

The site looks the same to me in Safari and Firefox. I would use the refresh command in Firefox to make sure it isn't showing you stale information from its cache.
