Thanks for posting the transcript -- that's very helpful. It looks like your proxy settings are wrong. I would suggest choosing "Preferences..." from the Customize menu, clicking on the Firewall tab, and setting the "Proxy Type" pop-up menu to "None".
Let me know if that doesn't fix the problem.
Thanks,

That did the trick. Thanks so much. It is great and rare to have a Help message board where the company actually pays attention and actually DOES help.
Thanks again,
Hank

This past weekend I switched from a dialup ISP to DSL. I use Fetch 4.03 to download and upload files changing links on a Web page.
In the past I have had no probem connecting using the page name (i.e., webpage.org). But since I have switched to DSL, Fetch will not connect at all. The dog just runs and runs. It doesn't matter whether I try the name or use the number address (i.e., 88.888.88.888).
My transcript for two recent sessions (I changed the name and number addresses for security reasons)--stopped after over 15 minutes of trying-:
(1) using name:
Fetch 4.0.3 System 0x921 Serial FETCHFL001-C123-4420 TR
Using UNKNOWN SOCKS VERSION gateway host: í?&#fffd;, port: 26531
Connecting to webname.org port 21 (11/23/04 6:05:00 PM)
CStreamOTSocks::Connect(id = ffffffff) connecting to í?&#fffd; port 26531 srcport 0 (name = btlonline.org, real_remote_addr = 0x1, port = 21)
(2) using number address:
Using UNKNOWN SOCKS VERSION gateway host: í?&#fffd;, port: 26531
Connecting to 88.888.88.888 port 21 (11/23/04 6:15:46 PM)
CStreamOTSocks::Connect(id = ffffffff) connecting to í?&#fffd; port 26531 srcport 0 (name = 88.888.88.888, real_remote_addr = 0x1, port = 21)
Any suggestions on how to get Fetch working correctly again? (I'm running Mac OS 9.2.1 on a Mac G3 233 mHz desktop.)
Thanks.
