    When I log in to the current site I want to update, the index page and html folder does not display. I talked to my host and can see the pages in the control panel and when I log in using dreamweaver. I just upgraded o 5.6 thinking that might solve the problem but it didn't . The host had never heard of this problem. Nothing had changed since my last login. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Hi Tiebout,

    So the problem is you cannot see the files in Fetch?

    Or that you see the files in Fetch, but you do not see your webpages when you go to the website with a web browser?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi,

    Okay, thanks for the clarification.

    We'd like some more information to help figure out what's going on.

    First, could you please tell us the address (URL) of the website in question?

    Second, please do the following:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Go to the View menu, and choose Refresh.
    * Then go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and try to advise.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi Tiebout,

    Okay, glad to hear choosing Refresh fixed the problem; it wasn't clear to me if the problem you were experiencing would be solved by that or not.

    What was going on was:

    Fetch caches (stores) file lists locally in order to speed up their display. While it is designed to notice changes to file lists and get a fresh list when there are changes, on rare occasions the algorithm Fetch uses makes a mistake and shows you an out-of-date file list, which may not include all your files and folders. It sounds like that's happened to you.

    If this happens again, you can tell Fetch to get an up-to-date file list from the server by going to the View menu and choosing Refresh. The missing files and folders should show up when you do that.

    Or you can also turn off the file list caching feature completely, so that Fetch always gets a fresh file list from the server, by doing the following:

    * Open Fetch.
    * Go to the Fetch menu, and choose Preferences.
    * Click the Miscellaneous tab.
    * Click the "Ignore file list cache" checkbox to put a check next to it.
    * Close the Preferences window.

    Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Scott
    The client had let their domain name expire, so the site wasn't up for a day or two. Maybe when it reloaded it got an old file list. I had never had any problems with Fetch before so glad this was a minor issue easily resolved.
    Thanks again for your assistance.
