sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesnt (2 posts)

    hello can anyone explain this: fetch connects to most ftp servers but for one it gives the error "cant open data connection" but other users are able to log into this particular server. Any ideas?

    The server may be behind a firewall, and require that FTP clients contacting it use active (as opposed to passive) mode. To do that in Fetch choose "Preferences..." from the Customize menu, click on the Firewall tab, and uncheck the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox.
