Special Character Titles in Put Files & TGA files (5 posts)

I've been searching the archives for ways to help make our graphics department run smoother and I was wondering if anything has changed on the following topic:

Infinit! use some strange proprietary file system that was designed to try men's souls. In order to transfer a graphic image, it must be saved as a .tga file and sent with a name consisting of a period plus four numbers. (Ex: .0001) The file must be sent to the current directory using a different name than the current directory. (Confused yet?)

Example: I want to send a tga file to be stored as
    0.0/NEWS/MESSAGE/.0123

But, in order for the file to be recognized as a image file, the path to the put file needs to read
    0.0/NEWS/TGA/.0123

(Note that there IS no subdirectory TGA...the directory name is "MESSAGE", but the infinit system recognizes that the file is a image file. I don't understand why you would use a file name as a file type indicator, I just know the problems that causes for the user.)

While this works for individual files, I cannot send files in bulk b/c even if I rename the file itself to read 0.0/NEWS/TGA/.0123 the Fetch program replaces the backslash with %2f, which the proprietary os I work with cannot understand. I've toggled the "Translate ISO characters" both ways to no effect. This was addressed previously ("You're right -- the name encoding doesn't happen in Put Files and Folders, even when AppleSingle is selected. I'll add that to the bug report.") back in 8/13/03 and I was wondering if any work around has been found for this problem yet?

    Hi,

Are you still having this problem with Fetch 5.0.4 (the latest released version of Fetch)? We put in changes that should provide compatiblity with the Chyron Inifinit servers in 5.0.4. If you are still seeing the problem with 5.0.4, please let us know and we'll look into it further.

    Thanks,
