Is there a way to stop .zip files from decompressing after download? There is no "Post Processing" option (that I can find) in 5.01.

    Thanks!

Instead of having a long Post-processing list Fetch 5 lets you change the way file types are handled in the Transfer Options pane of the Get Info window. So if you don't want .zip files to be decoded, select one, click Get Info, and uncheck the "Automatically decode files like this" checkbox.

    Thanks,

I'd like to request that there be a way to turn automatic decoding for ALL files on or off. I find it such a pain to have to do turn it off for each filee type, each time I install Fetch:

    1. Find all of the types of files on an FTP server I want to change this setting for.
    2. Get Info on each of those files.
    3. Turn "Automatic Decode" off.

    So laborious!

In fact I really have to question whether this feature should be on by default to begin with. If I download whatever.tar.gz I do truly expect to find whatever.tar.gz on my desktop. I do not expect it to already be expanded, and for the original file to be vanished from my desktop. So I'd like to make a second request that you make the default OFF for this feature as well.

I concur with this too. This is the most unintuitive place for this kind of setting I have seen. I looked everywhere through the preferences and menus and couldn't find anything. Searching the help didn't turn up anything either.

Please, please, please put a global option under preferences to disable any post-download application work.

    Hi krustyfur,

Thanks for your feedback. We are planning on providing an easier way to disable all decoding in a future version of Fetch.

In the meantime, could you please tell us what words you searched for in the help? There are topics that address this - for instance, Decoding files automatically. If you can tell us what words you used and didn't work, we will add them as keywords so the search works better.

    Thanks,
