    Hello,

I have had a problem when downloading, then uploading HTML and PHP pages after editing.

When I download using "Automatic" mode, everything is cool, but when I upload (no matter what mode I use) the code has huge spaces in it, i.e. the text formatting is terrible. Needless to say, my programmer is unhappy when this happens; it presents quite a hassle when he has to make changes to the code.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Damian

When you say huge spaces do you mean blank lines, or spaces in the lines of text? Do you see the spaces if you use Text format for the upload, and the View Text File command to view the file in Fetch after uploading?

    Thanks,

    Jim,

The text formatting I am talking about seems to insert a line of space between every line of code. Also, the formatting from left to right seems to be off as well.

Is Text Mode while uploading supposed to prevent this? I have experimented with all the modes and get inconsistent result.

Blank lines are usually caused by a problem converting the end-of-line characters. Text mode uploads try to fix these problems.

I could try to figure out what is going on if you could send me:

    1) One of the files in question, and

    2) A screenshot of what that file looks like when you use the "View Text File" command in Fetch to look at it after uploading, and

    3) The contents of the "Fetch Transcript" window after you upload and view the file.

You should archive all three things in a StuffIt archive so they won't be changed in the course of being emailed. You can send them to bugs @ fetchsoftworks.com.

    Thanks,
