Trouble retrieving file list (2 posts)

    I have am having trouble with retrieving the file list in fetch. When I log on it takes several minutes for it to all me to do anything, as it "retrieves the file list". Then, an error message comes up: "Unable to build date connection-connection timed out." Then, I'm connected, but I can't get to the "home" or "/" directories on the server. I also tried putting a file on the server, just to see if that would fail as well, and it doesn't work either. I'd appreciate any help that can be provided.

    The first thing I'd try is changing the setting of the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" setting in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences. If that doesn't help choose "Fetch Preferences" from the Window menu and post the contents after you get the error.
