hi - On a Mac G4 here and when I try and use Fetch, it uploads - yet I am never able to access what I have uploaded on the web. It's as if it was never loaded.

I have Norton Firewall and security - but even when that is turned off, I still am unable to see uploaded material on the web. I go back to use my old Fetch 3.03 on my G3 (OS 8.6) and it loads just fine and all is viewable - until now - it shows an Error number -3205.

I did not (like an idiot) re-install the software once I purchased it. What should I do now? I do all of my work on my G4 and would like Fetch 4.0.3 to work.

Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after uploading a file to the web? It would also help to have the URL of the page (i.e. the URL where you'd expect to see the updated page in your browser).

    Thanks,

I don't have any pages at the moment, but I was told that you can view jpegs on the web. I have uploaded many for a forum that I participate in and none of the pics show up if i do it with 4.0.3 - but if i do it with 3 - it works (btw-I found out why the older fetch was not working-modem cable is sketchy).

here is the transcript of a file i just put up named jeff.jpg:

    PWD
    257 "/public_html" is current directory.
    TYPE I
    200 Type set to I
    PASV
    227 Entering Passive Mode (64,255,238,194,179,79).
    STOR jeff.jpg
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for jeff.jpg
    226 Transfer complete.
Upload complete at 10/1/03 9:50:44 AM

I have always been told to upload as RAW data with Mac - could this be it?

Raw Data is what you want. What is the URL of jeff.jpg (i.e. what would you type into your browser to see the image)?

    Thanks,

Well - now if I upload a file (jpeg) - it loads and if I "Get" the file - I can't preview it 'cause it says it's incomplete. Here is more from that transaction (the fetch 4.0.3 transcript):

OK - I figured it out on my own, well sort of. in you FAQ I found the answer:

If that does not solve the problem, try unchecking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences.

That's what i did and now it works! Thanks though for trying to help.

Sounds like it was Norton Privacy Control that was intercepting the upload. That issue is supposed to be fixed in the current Norton release (3.0).

    Thanks,
