Unable to delete folder from FETCH (16 posts)

    I need to delete the following folder (ftp://DEWYDELL:@ftp.abebooks.com/ImageLoadProblemReports/) but when I hit the Delete button I get this message: Fetch could not delete "ImageLoadProblemReports" because the server says you do not have the required permissions. Contact the server administrator if you think you should have permission to take this action. Server Responded: "ImageLoadProblemReports: Permission denied."

    The party (ABEbooks.com) I'm sending the images to says it can't help. Can anyone? From whom do I need permission? Who is the "server administrator?"

    The server administrator in this case is someone at AbeBooks.com (since the server is ftp.abebooks.com).

    Could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu in Fetch and post the contents of that window after you try to delete the folder and get the error message? There might be clues in the transcript.

    Jim, that's more or less what I thought, but I'm glad to have the confirmation. ABEbooks seems to be playing dumb in this, dunno why. Anyway, I've copied our exchange and sent it to ABE.

    I have two folders, one in the main window, and one in a sub folder that will not delete. What do I need to do to delete them? The "Fetch transcript" reads as follows

    Thanks for posting the transcript. I would try deleting all the items inside the folder, and then trying to delete the folder. You should be able to isolate the file or folder that is a problem.

    Apparently you can't delete the graphics%2f folder because there's a problem deleting the /graphics%2f/Icons/OS X Flag Icons/ READ ME.rtfd folder inside it. Can you navigate to that " READ ME.rtfd" folder? Can you open it? Are there any files inside it?

    When I navigate to the READ ME.rtfd folder in the graphics%2f folder and double click on it to open, it is empty

    What happens if you try to delete just the READ ME.rtfd folder? Could you post that transcript?

    It looks like the " READ ME.rtfd" folder has a leading space in its name. Can you rename it to not have that space? Type Return to start renaming.

    Try checking the "USE 'LIST -al' command to reveal hidden items" box in the Miscellaneous section of Preferences. Does that help?
