Updates to website not showing up on other computers (7 posts)

I use Iweb for building my site, use Go Daddy hosting. Use fetch to upload to hosting. Ok, I update some pages, they upload (after I delete them from folder) they work and the changes show up when I check from my Mac. I go to a PC and it is not changed. Or some changes but not all show up. I cleared the search history so it should read it new, but it is not. Getting very frustrated!!! What is the issue?

    Hi Kim,

Probably the problem is that clearing the search history on the PC isn't sufficient; usually what you want to do to make sure you are seeing the latest changes to your pages is to clear the web browser's cache (this is different from the history). How you do this is different for each browser, so I can't give you specific instructions for the PC.

If you want to tell me the address of your site and describe one of the new changes you made and which page it appears on, I can check on my computer to make sure that I am seeing the changes. If I can see them, then we'd know that your changes have been uploaded correctly and it's just a problem with that one web browser on that PC.

    Thanks,

    Scott,

Thanks I will try that. Our website is cross-trainyourbrain.com. One of the changes is to the Testimonials page, some of the text was overlapping once i published and so I had to redo the layout. It just doesn't seem to show up corrected on the PC. And on the Golf page (linked from sports training page) I changed the heading text to a light blue instead of light green.

I appreciate your time. Oh yeah, the PC is a toshiba laptop if that helps in where to clear the cache. It's my husbands and so I am not as familiar as I should be.

    Hi Kim,

I looked at those pages using Safari on the Mac, Firefox on the Mac, and Internet Explorer on Windows XP.

The testimonials page looks fine in all cases, I do not see any overlapping text.

However, the Golf page has a light green heading in all cases.

So, I'm not sure if that means your changes have been uploaded successfully or not, since it seems like one page looks like you expect, but maybe not the other.

When you say they look fine on your Mac, do you mean they look okay in iWeb, or they look okay when you go to cross-trainyourbrain.com in your web browser on the Mac?

    Thanks,

    Scott,

Thank you for checking, I am glad those pages look ok. I check the website after uploading. And it looks good. I guess I will try deleting the golf page and reload it again. I have done it 3 times. Thank you for checking this out for me. I will keep trying.

    Hi Kim,

Hmm, I can't explain why you'd see a blue banner for the golf page on your Mac and yet it can't be seen anywhere else.

But just uploading the golf page by itself almost certainly isn't sufficient to get the change to appear on the web; the style and colors of text on your webpages is controlled by another one of the files iWeb generates. Generally with iWeb sites, it's best to upload the entire site again, even if you've only made a change to one page, because that change may have affected other files or may have actually been made in another, less obvious file.

(For what it's worth, I just looked again now at 4:25 PM Eastern and now the header of the golf page is in light blue, but now the green text is overlapping the quote at the bottom of the page...)

Good luck and let us know if you think we can be of any other assistance,
