Upload file size innacurate (3 posts)

I'm trying to upload a 5.77gb file, but Fetch is telling me "'insert percent here' of a 5.38gb file Uploaded". I've tried multiple attempts with two different versions of the same 5.77gb file, but every time it reads 5.38gb. Will the whole file upload?

    Hi,

Is the problem that Fetch says the upload is complete, but the size Fetch reports is different from the size Mac OS X reports?

Or is the problem that your upload never finishes, and Fetch either stalls, or gives you an error?

And could you please tell us which version of Mac OS X you're using, and which version of Fetch?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Just to follow up: you may be experiencing a difference in how Fetch and Mac OS X 10.6 report file sizes. (Mac OS X uses a nonstandard definition of GB; Fetch uses a different definition that is more standard and matches what most file servers use.)

You can verify whether the uploaded file has been completely uploaded by using the Get Info command in both Finder and Fetch. Each one will show you the exact size of the file in bytes; if the uploaded file has the same number of bytes as the original file on your Mac, everything was uploaded.

Please let us know if you have further question or would like further information about this.

    Thanks,
