I have been uploading our school's grades for almost two years with no problem - but the last month has been very frustrating. Sometimes the grades upload just fine. Other times some of the files upload then, for an extended period of time "Putting file....." is shown and eventually a message appears. It usually says, "Fetch could not put "file name.html" because the FTP server has shut down." (When I know the server is still working.) Although, last night I received a new message, "Fetch could not get the file list because the FTP server sent an unexpected response. Check the Fetch Transcript window for more information. Server responded: "ST not understood"
I have not made any changes. Was hoping you could tell me why I have suddenly encountered this problem?
    Thanks,
    Carol

    Hi Carol,

If you haven't made any changes to the set up on your Mac and you suddenly start experiencing problems - especially when you get messages such as "the FTP server has shut down" - this may indicate a problem with the server. Possibly some change has been made to the server that is causing the problems.

But we'll do some checking to make sure it's not a Fetch problem.

The next time you get an error message trying to upload files, could you please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message?

That will give us more information about exactly what Fetch is doing and how the server responded, and so we'll take a look and try to figure out what's going on.

    Thanks,
