    Hello,
I have a .htaccess file in my web directory and I would like to make some changes to it and upload a new version. I have already made the changes and tried to upload it in Fetch. It uploaded, but my whole website got an error from the new .htaccess file. I read online that an .htaccess file should be uploaded in ASCII Mode or CHMOD 644 or (Rw-R--R--) . How can I set Fetch to these modes?
I had it set to text mode when I put the new file up.

Would using the wrong mode create this error?

    Thank you for your help.

To upload in ASCII mode set the Format menu to Text when you upload (it sounds like you already did that).

To set the permssions of a file to 644 in Fetch 5, select the file and click Get Info, then open the Ownership and Permissions tab and set the permission value to 644.

    Thanks,

The Apache group has a tutorial on .htaccess files here:
