    I have deluxe hosting with godaddy and would like to upload a second website. I was told to put in the hostname of first site, then forward slash and second website name. HOWEVER, fetch does not allow "/" in the hostname...what do I do?

    Hi,

    I believe you should enter the hostname of the first site in the hostname field, as usual, and then enter the name of the second website in the "Initial folder" field of the Fetch New Connection dialog.

    (You may need to click on the disclosure triangle - the blue rectangle with a triangle in it at the lower left of the dialog <img src="http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/FetchWebHelp/Contents/Graphics/DisclosureButtonNCD.png"> - to display the "Initial folder" field.)

    Please let us know if this does not work.

    Thanks,

    Hi, thanks for the reply...when I try that I get a dialog box that says;
    "Fetch could not open the folder " " because the FTP server says that the reequested item was not a folder or could not be accessed.
    If you entered a folder name or URL, check that it is correct. Server responded: "Can't change directory to www.tonipintophoto.com: No such file or directory."

    I've been on the phone with godaddy this morning and they assured me it's all good on that end.....any more ideas?

    Hi,

    Could you please do the following to help us figure out where the problem might be?

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your account as you normally would for adding something to your original website - do not enter anything in the Intial folder field.
    * Go to the View menu, and choose Refresh.
    * Then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Thanks for the transcript. From what it shows, it doesn't look like things are set up to work they way GoDaddy is telling you they should work.

    Try doing this - in the Fetch New Connection dialog, enter the domain name of the new domain, and then use the same username and password that you were using for the old domain.

    Can you connect successfully if you do that?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hey Scott...I had high hopes for that last suggestion (makes sense!) but here's the message I got...

    "Not Found

    The requested URL / was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

    still hanging in there...

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, we don't have any further suggestions for you; either GoDaddy has not given you the correct information or they have not set things up correctly.

    We suggest contacting GoDaddy support again (sorry), and telling them that when you log into your primary account, you do not see a folder for your new domain, and ask them exactly what hostname, username, password and initial directory you should specify to get to into the new domain.

    If they tell you to "put in the hostname of first site, then forward slash and second website name" again, ask them to try again. It's not just Fetch that doesn't allow slashes in the hostname - that's not a legal thing to enter as the hostname in any FTP client, and I believe pretty much any client would give you an error like Fetch does.

    I'm sorry, I wish we could give you a better answer. If GoDaddy gives you new instructions and you can't figure out how to follow them in Fetch, let us know.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
