Fetch tries to work with VMS servers, but there may be difficulties with certain versions of VMS. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you try to enter a directory by double-clicking and then by using the Change Directory command?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Thanks. The folder names identified as "document" in the Fetch window.
The following example, 1) Clicking on the TV folder, 2) Manually entering the TV folder (with no files in it), 3) Manually entering the Pictures folder (with files).
It looks as though Fetch's interpretation of folder's being documents, is causing it to retrieve the folder/document instead of changing to it.
Cheers, Justin

Hi Jim, sorry to be a nuisance, I can see you're very busy. Have you had a chance to review the thread regarding Fetch accessing a VMS server? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again, Justin, NZ -
Jim Matthews Administrator
Sorry for not responding earlier, and thanks for the reminder!
The way this VMS ftp server is listing files and directories there's no way to tell them apart. So for the time being you will have to change directories manually. On the semi-bright side, once you've visited a directory it should be remembered in the Directories menu, so you can use that to return.
I'd be interested to see the output from the "View File List" command in the Remote menu -- that will probably have more information, but it may be in a format that Fetch does not currently understand.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hope that helps.

Hi, when I use Fetch 4.0.2 to connect from MacOS 9.2 to a VMS 5.5-2 server, it connects but has difficulty understanding the folder convention.
It sees the existing folders as unknown file types, which obviously error when you attempt to open them. If you use the Change Directory option, you can type the target folder (eg., "new") and it will change to it.
Any one seen this problem and know what the workaround is?
Thanks.
