  Using either Fetch 4.0.3 or the new Fetch 5.5.2, uploads are getting hung up immediately. Able to see all files on server:

  For 4.0.3, Fetch completely freezes.

  For 5.5.2 getting message "putting ___ as binary data
  0 bytes of 55521, then retries a few times before the window comes up fe"tecth stopped because transfer stalled" "to resume go to . . ."

  Please help.

  In addition, I can see the "ghost" of the first file of a multiple file upload (or a single file upload) at the upload site (the title of the file) but says a size of 0.

  Hi Jeff,

  We'd like some more information to help diagnose the problem. Could you please do the following?

  * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
  * Open Fetch again.
  * Connect to your server.
  * Try uploading again.
  * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
  * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

  Hi Jeff,

  Thanks for the transcript.

  I notice that the file you're trying to upload has a space in its name. Some FTP servers react badly to files with spaces in their names; that may be the problem here.

  Could you try removing the space from the file's name (you could replace it with an underscore) and try uploading again and see if that works?

  Hi Jeff,

  Thanks for trying that.

  I've asked a colleague to take a look at your transcript, but in the meantime, another thing you should check is to make sure you're not out of space (quota) in your account on the server - it may be that there isn't room to upload new files and that's what's causing the odd behavior. One way to check this is to try deleting some old files from the server that you no longer need, and then try uploading your new files and see if they go up. Or you can contact the folks who run the server and ask them if you're out of space.

  Unfortunately (or fortunately) that's not a problem. Plenty of room, and able to upload from PC's to the same location without any challenge.

  Hi Jeff,

  Thanks for the login info. I've copied it down and then removed it because you probably don't want it posted on a public message board (which this is).

  Unfortunately I'm not at a location where I can reliably test uploading today, but I will try later when I'm back at my office.

  In the meantime, another thing for you to try - can you upload successfully to our FTP server?

  Connect to it using the following information:

  Hostname: ftp.fetchsoftworks.com
  Username: (leave empty)
  Password: (leave empty)

  Once you're connected, you'll see an "incoming" folder. Drag and drop a file to the "incoming" folder icon.

  Please note that you can't open the incoming folder - it's a dropbox, which means you can put files in it but can't look in it or modify the files afterwards.

  But you'll be able to tell whether your upload is successful or not, which is what we're trying to test.

  Let us know if your upload is successful or not; if not, please post the transcript from the failed upload.

  Never mind about trying our server.

  I'm back at the office, and I cannot upload to theslideshowcompany.net either.

  In fact, I tried three other Mac FTP clients, and one Windows FTP client, and none could upload to it. (The Windows FTP client couldn't even get a file list).

  So this is not a problem with Fetch or your connection; there is some problem with the server. You should contact the folks who run it and ask them for help and to look into the problem.

  I'm kind of feelings stuck in the middle. My server company says it's an app problem. And they walked me through an upload through my server control panel and I was able to upload fine. Another help person sent a dialog they received on a successful upload. Maybe it would help (see below).

  I'm sure I'm not the only client of yours that uses A-plus.net. So I'm hoping you can find a setting or something the fetch is not detecting. Or something.

  Hi Jeff,

  Uploading via the server control panel is completely different from uploading via FTP; whether it works or not is not proof that uploading via FTP should work. The server uses a completely different piece of software to talk to the control panel than it does FTP clients, so the control panel can still work fine when FTP does not.

  I notice, from the transcript that your company sent you, that they used the username "theslideshowcompany.net" to log in. However, from the transcripts you sent, it looks like you are using the username "theslideshowcomp" to log in. I don't know if that's significant or not, but maybe you should try logging in using "theslideshowcompany.net" (without quotes) as your username and see if that makes a difference?

  Are these problems new? Have you been able to use Fetch to upload successfully to this server in the past?

  Hi Mike,

  If you see a listing of files when you try to view your website in your web browser, the problem may be that you have not uploaded your website files in the correct location, so the server cannot find the files to display them.

  You may want to see our solving problems with websites help topic for troubleshooting tips. You may also want to contact your hosting provider (the people who run the server) for advice about what went wrong.

  If I misunderstood and you are experiencing some other problem, let us know.
