I'm doing some web work for a guy who is somewhat of a rookie in terms of technology.

I've asked him to give me FTP access...he gave me the URL of his server rather than the IP address. I'm not able to connect. I've tried a few times to make sure I'm putting in the User ID and pass correctly. I'm working on a MAC OSX, his server is MAC, so there is no cross-platform issues to deal with.

When I used to run servers a million years ago, we uploaded with IP address. Do I need the IP, or will a URL do?

    Many thanks...

You need either a hostname (e.g. ftp.foo.com) or an IP address to put in the Host field of Fetch's New Connection window.

Could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the contents after you see a problem?

    Thanks,
