    wondering why and how these lines appear on the top of my web site

    &àøÑ&ï<<<<<<<<<generic B&Worsetter<<&#fffd;<&#fffd;=
    Ô<=><
    GgÈ

    I believe I have transfered my index.html properly.

    The Worsetter shows up on our web page

    I have tried several time to eliminate them with no luck.

    Can you help.

    Thank you

    Is it possible that you are editing your web page in a word processor (such as Microsoft Word)? It looks like you have lots of extra data before the HTML text. You may need to "Save as..." the file as HTML before uploading.

    Our web page was created on Quark and uploaded through Fetch. I have it saved as

    <base href="http://www.surestop.com/">

    which is my first line of the index.html

    but when the pages appears on the web it is

    &àøÑ&ï<<<<<<<<<generic B&Worsetter<<&#fffd;<&#fffd;=
    Ô<=><
    GgÈ<base href="http://www.surestop.com/">

    and i don't know where the

    &àøÑ&ï<<<<<<<<<generic B&Worsetter<<&#fffd;<&#fffd;=
    Ô<=><
    GgÈ

    comes from

    and when you go to our web site the line

    &Worsetter

    appears in red as the first line

    thank you for your continued help
