    Hi,

    We'd like some more information to help diagnose the problem. Could you please do the following?

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try deleting the problem file.
    * After you receive the error, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and give further advice about what to do.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi Jay,

    Thanks for the transcript. I see no obvious reason why you cannot delete the folder.

    Unfortunately, this is the server - not Fetch - that won't let you delete the folder. (Fetch asks the server to delete it, and the server says "I can't do that for you.")

    You'll need to contact the people who run the server (your hosting provider) and ask them to delete the folder for you, and see if they can explain why you can't delete it via FTP.

    Please let us know if you have further questions after talking to them.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi Scott, I have the same issue, do you think you could take a look at this transcript? I already contacted my provider and the guy said he couldn't delete it so he opened a ticket so the the more techy guys delete it this afternoon, but I'm curious as if it might be something related to fetch or is the same issue jaysay has.

    Hi cabes,

    No, I don't think this is a Fetch problem. Fetch is asking the server to delete the folder, and the server says there is no such folder; Fetch can't do more in this situation, because the server is giving Fetch contradictory information. First it tells Fetch "here's a list of files on the server, including a folder named 'guru'". But when you select that file in the file list and click the Delete button, and Fetch asks the server "delete the folder named 'guru' that you just told me about", the server says, "there's no folder with that name here."

    One possibility is that the folder "guru" actually has a space at the end of its name (which is often easy to miss, since it's invisible); spaces at the end of folder or file names confuse some servers, resulting in them being able to list the folder or file, but not do anything else with it.

    Unfortunately, even if that's the case, you can't fix it via Fetch, because when you try to rename it, the server will almost certainly tell Fetch "there's no folder of that name to rename," just like it did when you tried to delete the folder

    Or, it could be some other server glitch; but regardless, I'm afraid you're going to have to wait for your provider to figure it out.

    Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
