Some of the less-well-known features in Fetch:
- Click immediately below the file list to de-select all items.
- Bigger icons will be displayed for different file types, if the rows in the file list are tall enough. Use the "Set Font and Size..." command in the Edit menu to change the row height.
- The icon above the file list represents the current directory; drag it to a shortcut list window to make a shortcut, or to a text editor window to copy the current directory's URL.
- Drag a remote file or directory icon to the icon above the file list in order to move it to the parent directory of the one being displayed.
- Hold down Option while copying or dragging a URL in order to leave off the opening and closing brackets.
- Hold down Option while pressing the "Get
" button to type the name of the file to get.
- Hold down Option while pressing the "Put
" button to upload multiple files and/or folders.
- If you are connecting to a Mac FTP server that supports MacBinary (such as NetPresenz, AppleShare/IP, Rumpus, etc.) "Automatic" mode will automatically use MacBinary for all transfers, preserving resource forks and Finder information.
- Double-click on the divider between column titles in transfer windows and shortcut windows -- columns will be automatically resized to fit the information being displayed (requires Mac OS 8.5 or later).
- Click on a transfer window with the Control key down to see a contextual menu. Choose the "Clone Window" command to open a new connection to the same server. Drag files and folders between the two transfer windows to move them between directories.
