Editing with Textmate no long saves to server (Mountain Lion related?) (4 posts)

Sometime over the past few months, (perhaps when I upgraded to Mountain Lion) editing with Textmate stopped saving to the server. I can edit locally and then upload without issue, but when I try to edit live the changes never get saved. Any idea what's up? Updated to the latest Fetch but that did nothing.

    thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting this problem. I'd like to collect more information about what is going on:

    * What version of TextMate do you have?
    * Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window (choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu) after trying to edit a file with TextMate?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jim,

Looks like its a known apple bug, following is what TextMate says:

Recently we have been getting reports of some issues with Transmit, QuickCursor and other applications that use Apple events to communicate with TextMate. Thanks to Brian Webster and Michael Tsai this has been tracked down to a bug in the appleeventsd process in 10.8.2, hopefully this will be fixed quickly by Apple.

A workaround for Transmit would be to mount the server as a hard drive and open the files from there as it would bypass the bug, this would also work in other file transfer programs that have this feature. You can get more information and alternative workarounds at the their respective posts linked above.

As for the other details, using TextMate 1.5.11 (1635)

When I edit a file, it downloads and opens in TextMate in the Transcript and then crickets, I can save in TextMate but absolutely nothing goes on in the Fetch Transcript.

Thanks for sharing that information. If you are comfortable editing plist files, you could modify your copy of Fetch so that it won't use Apple Events to communicate with TextMate, and that might work around the problem. Let me know if you want more information about doing that.

    Thanks,
