I've heard that if I build a website with iWeb 06 that is hosted through a server other than .mac then I will need an FTP software to transfer my published folder to my server. Is this possible with Fetch and if so, how do I do it?

    Hi,

Yes, you can use Fetch to transfer websites created with iWeb to a server other than .mac.

After creating a website in iWeb, you choose the "Publish to a Folder" command from the File menu. This creates a folder on your Macintosh holding the files that make up your website.

Then you connect to your server using Fetch by typing in the server address, username, and password provided to you by your server provider. (You can create a shortcut in Fetch so that you don't have to type in the information every time.) A window in Fetch shows you the contents of your web space on the server.

Then you drag the contents of the folder that iWeb created to the Fetch window. Fetch uploads it, and you're done.

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

I tried exactly as you said with a free trial version but my site remained unchanged. I checked the username, password etc with my ISP. Any suggestions?

The most likely explanation is that the files were uploaded to the wrong folder on the server. Could you upload your site again, and then choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and email the contents to bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com? It would also help to know the URL of your website. I'll take a look and let you know what I find out.

    Thanks,
