    I'm using OS 10.4.8 & Fetch 5.1.1

My connection to FTP timesout a lot, 9 out of 10 times.

I have Bellsouth for DSL, I checked the Firewall settings in the MAC under File Sharing and nothing odd seems to be checked.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for the imput in advance.

    Hi,

We'd like some more information to help diagnose the problem.

When does the connection time out - when you're trying to connect to the server? When you're transferring files? Or both?

And do you have this problem with just one server, or any server?

Could you please try connecting to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com (no username or password required) several times, and download files from it, and see if you have the same problems?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

Hello thanks for the quick response.

It occurs when connecting to the server only.

It happens with just one server.

I will test the ftp.fetchsoftworks.com tomorrow morning.

    Thanks

    Hi,

If you only see timeouts when connecting to one server - and other servers, including ftp.fetchsoftworks.com, work fine - then most likely it's a problem with that specific server, not your network or Fetch.

You could try connecting to that server with another FTP client, such as the Mac OS X command-line ftp client or Interarchy. If you still experience timeout problems with the other FTP clients, you should contact the server administrator for that server. If, on the other hand, other FTP clients work fine with that server and Fetch doesn't, please let us know and we will investigate further and see if we can fix the problem.

Let us know what you find out. Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
