Problem with softlink (2 posts)

    Hello,

I have a home Debian (etch) ftp server. All users that have access to the server are rooted to my ftp directory. Is used a softlink (ln -s /dev/hdb1/ /home/ftp/) so that everything from my ftp would be reallocated in my second hard drive. Also, I gave access to all user to that directory using the following command: chmod -R 777 /home/ftp/hdb1 and /dev/hdb1. However, Fetch 5 seems unable to detect that shortcut, but a browser such as Firefox is able. Is there a way so that Fetch can gain access to the directory?

    Thanks for your oncoming help!

    Hi Eric,

Fetch will show users whatever folder the FTP server starts them in. So it sounds like you may need to set a different home directory in the configuration file for your FTP server.

    Thanks,
