425 Can't Open data connection Godaddy servers? (3 posts)

  Does anyone know how to connect to a Godaddy dedicated server with Fetch, so the Firewall doesn't keep giving me this?

  425 Can't open data connection

  I'm a web designer who just got a new job, and I'm having trouble with their dedicated server. I can connect to the server fine when we turn the FIrewall off. I have my own Godaddy shared hosting, adn the same FTP setup I've always used works fine. But for some reason, their server seems to have extra security that won't let my IP address connect when in Passive mode, and I can't figure out how to do this with Fetch correctly in Active mode if possible/necessary.

  BTW: I'm on a new iMac - OS Lion 10.7.4

  You could contact GoDaddy to ask them to modify their firewall rules to allow passive mode FTP, or to see if your dedicated server supports SFTP (which offers generally better security and firewall tolerance than FTP).

  If neither of those is an option, please let us know, and we can work on other solutions.
