Hi,
Do you have a wireless network, or a router to share your Internet connection between multiple computer, in your apartment?
I would try the following:
* First, go to the Fetch menu, choose Preferences, and make sure the "Use passive mode transers (PASV)" setting is checked. If it was unchecked, check it and try connecting again.
* If that doesn't work - and only if that doesn't work - turn off your Mac OS X firewall temporarily and then try to connect. Does that fix the problem? (To turn off the Mac OS X firewall, go to the Mac OS X System Preferences, click the Sharing icon, click the Firewall tab, and click the Stop button.)
Let us know if either of those help.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

I checked the (PASV) setting and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks for solving this - it is a huge help!!!

I can't connect to ftp sites when at home. When I leave my apt and use a wireless connection somewhere else it works. There must be something wrong with my connection. This is what happens at home:
When I try to connect to an FTP site I get this message:
Fetch could not get the file list because the FTP server sent an unexpected response.
Check the Fetch transcript window for more information. Server responded: "I won't open a connection to 192.168.1.102 (only to 24.215.212.9)
When I open the transcript window it reads:
Fetch 5.2.1 (5C263) PowerPC running on Mac OS X 10.4.9 (8R218) PowerPC English
StuffIt Engine 0x820, StuffIt SDK Version 10.1.1b1
