Cox and Fetch 5.1.3 issue for a corrupt gif format (8 posts)

    Hi Fetch user or the expert,

    I have a Fetch 5.1.3. for my Mac OS 10.4.11. I downloaded a filename in my Cox personal website that has a graphic format such as gif. Then, I clicked "View" with the filename.gif using the Fetch software. Here is:

    It stated, "Fetch could not view "CCmap.gif" because the file is incomplete. Check that the file is in a supported format."

    I dragged that file from Fetch onto my desktop screen, and opened it. My computer stated that the CCmap.gif is a corrupt like this "Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." My original CCmap.gif on my hard disk is opened which works fine.

    I don't know where is the problem. Is the problem came that from Cox or the Fetch software?

    Hi,

    It sounds like this file is corrupt. Did you put the file on the server using Fetch?

    Yes. I only use Fetch 5.1.3 because it is so easy for me to do it as a simple.

    My map file is in my dialup mail service that provides a personal website, and the gif file contains 136K. I tested it with Fetch's View, and it came out fine. After I moved it to a different email service (cable) that also comes with a personal website, and I use the Fetch's View to open it that became a corrupt file on Cox's server.

    This map file on my hard disk is fine. The corrupt map is in the Cox server. I don't understand it.

    The reason is that I am closing my dialup service next month.

    Please try uploading it to the Cox server again. After uploading it, use the View command to see if it is corrupt. If it is, choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the entire contents of that window. That information should help me figure out what is going on.

    When you upload CCmap.gif Fetch sends 138,292 bytes to the server. But when you try to download it, the server says that the file is 0 bytes long.

    The most likely explanation that I can come up with is that the server thinks you are over your storage limit, so it is silently throwing away the contents of the CCmap.gif file.

    You could test this theory by deleting a bunch of files that you don't need (assuming that there are files there that you don't need), and then trying again. Another idea would be to check with Cox on what the storage limit is, and whether you have exceeded it.

    I am very surprised that my Cox webspace is limited 10 MB. I thought that it was 2 GB, and it is for the email space. Darn it. Yes, you solved my problem. Thank you for helping me.
