Every download automatically opens in a browser page-FFox (7 posts)

    Each file selected using "Get" starts downloading and immediately opens in a new browser window. 10 files = 10 browser windows! I have not changed any settings for a long time. Using latest Fetch 5.2.1

    Suggestions?

    I assume these are all HTML files that are opening in a new browser window? (If not, please tell us what kinds of files they are, and disregard the instructions below.)

    Assuming they are HTML files, I would try the following:

    * Open Fetch.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Select an HTML file, that is, one whose name ends in .html (doesn't matter which one).
    * Click the Get Info button.
    * Click the disclosure triangle next to the Transfer Options label at the bottom of the info window to display the Transfer Options pane, if it's not already displayed.
    * In the "After transferring a file like this" section, make sure the "Save the file" button is selected.
    * Close the info window.
    * Try downloading the file using "Get" again.

    Please let us know if that fixes the problem or not.

    The Save is checked.

    This seems to occur on a host that offers the Front Page editing features. I see several folders at the top of the root like
    _vti_bin/
    _vti_cnf/
    _vti_inf.html
    _vti_log/
    _vti_pvt/
    _vti_txt/

    Hi Jack,

    Could you show us the transcript from one of the downloads that opens the files in a new browser window?

    To do this, download one of the files or folders that causes the problem, and then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and see if we can figure out what's going on.

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks for the transcript.

    Could you please try the following? These steps will not affect your shortcuts.

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Choose "Home" from the Go menu in the Finder
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Preferences folder
    * Find the com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.plist and Fetch Prefs files, and move them to the Desktop. (You may not have a Fetch Prefs file. That's fine if you don't.)

    Then open Fetch again, try downloading some HTML files, and let us know what happens.

    It appears that one file at the top of the list was set to open after download. This caused ALL files to open after download. Thanks.
