Hi,
Fetch 5.7.7 will not work with Catalina. I'm working on Fetch 5.8, which is a 64-bit app that will run on Catalina. If you'd like to test early releases of Fetch 5.8 you can sign up at
https://mailchi.mp/d007f56b91b3/fetch64beta
and I'll be in touch when there's something to test.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Just installed Catalina and Fetch isn't working. When is the rough date for Fetch 5.8? I use this app several times a week for clients.
Thanks

same here as Kent.... ready to beta test. I'm using fetch multiple times a week.
Update, got the beta test link and I'm using it now.
So far so good. It automatically linked to my preferences files and remembered the previous FTP addresses and passwords. So far it works perfectly.

Thanks Jim for the info and is much appreciated. Downloaded the beta, but wasn't sure I was willing to try it. Now I feel like I'll be able to with confidence.
Thanks again

Hi - I use Fetch a lot too -- registered user since the 90s. Is there a way to get the beta link? It's literally the only piece of software that I haven't been able to update. Thank you!

I use Fetch all the time--I'm a magazine editor (I've been a registered user since 2010) and just upgraded to Catalina. Can I please get the beta version of 5.8?

Hi all,
To get the download link for Fetch 5.8b9 go to
https://mailchi.mp/d007f56b91b3/fetch64beta
and sign up. You will receive a welcome email with the download link (check your spam folder if you don't see the email right away).
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Just installed 5.8 beta. So far so good.

I'll give the 5.8 beta a try. Thank you Matthew for working on this. I love your Fetch and rather stay with it than going elsewhere.

Made the Catalina upgrade yesterday and the ONE critical piece of software I needed was Fetch! Signed up and am currently testing the beta, which seems to be working well with the few things I've tried so far.
Question: On startup, I'm told this will expire on 29 October and do I wish to purchase, or enter a serial number. I've copied and pasted the information directly from the email I originally received at purchase (not the same one I'm using for this message board), but I'm then told that that information is incorrect. Previous upgrades always imported my registration information, so I'm wondering if that will happen when the final product is ready for release, or will it need to be registered/purchased again?
For whatever it's worth, my license was for charity/educational use.

Frisky, my upgrade was for a charity also, and when I installed the beta I didn't get the notification that it was for 30 days, or for a trial. It upgraded without issue as you stated it has done before. try deleting your fetch preferences maybe?

Tried deleting the only prefs file I could find (~/Library/Preferences/com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.plist) and still no love for me. :(
On top of everything else, when it was first licensed I used our organizations default email address. It got harvested by so many bots and crawlers that it became nothing more than a spam catcher, so it was deleted in favor of a less obvious default. So, I can't even use the license retrieval tool. It won't recognize the new address as being valid.
Does Catalina store the prefs somewhere new, maybe? I could be looking at an old prefs file, although the last modified information on this one does indicate it was this morning when I opened the app.

Hi Frisky,
Fetch 5.8 doesn't recognize some educational/charitable serial numbers that were issued in the early 2000s. You can apply for a new one at https://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/free .

Please add me to the list of people who have been using Fetch forever and will do whatever it takes to get an update that will work with Mac OS Catalina. I've signed up on the beta testing page. Thanks for your help!

Hey Jim...
Just wanted to let you know that after receiving the email from your support team this afternoon, a new license was successfully issued. Unfortunately, I had several problems with my email (long story, but the short version is, the Catalina update wiped out most of my email logins as well), so your team is probably going to be getting a lot more messages about my serial number concerns that they can ignore completely now.
On the beta test front, all is still going well and I've seen nothing that would convince me this is "beta quality" software. Will let you know if that changes.
Thanks again!

Thanks very much for putting out 5.8b9 so promptly. There's something strange that I've not observed before in any of the previous versions (I've been a user since owning my first Mac in 2007). I created a Droplet to a remote server as I've done countless times before. But whenever I double click the Droplet it now opens up a "Fetch transcript" window alongside the usual window. On the other hand if I run the app by selecting the shortcut to the remote server, this doesn't happen, i.e., no "Fetch transcript" window. There doesn't seem to be any option to disable the "Fetch transcript" window.

THANK YOU for the beta availability, tried others in the past and always come back to my "running dog" Thank you for your work and efforts through the years. Deeply appreciated.
Look forward to getting the beta release email.

Hi Grateful User,
Fetch should only open the Fetch Transcript window if it was open when Fetch last quit, but there's some bug that is causing it to not work correctly. I will investigate.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I would like the link to download the beta site for Fetch please. The link here is not working. I work for a lifestyle magazine where we all work from home and need Fetch. BTW, I have used Fetch for a longggggg time. It is great software and I appreciate it. The dog running never gets old. :)

Hi Terry Mc,
Do you mean this link, the link for signing up for the beta?
https://mailchi.mp/d007f56b91b3/fetch64beta
That link is hosted by MailChimp, so there isn't anything I can do about it, but it seems to be working for most people.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Am I missing something, I have tried this link a dozen times and it just takes me to a screen that says I am now a subscriber. That's it. How do I download the update? Thanks!

Hi Julia,
It looks like Mailchimp wasn't sending out the welcome message for a while. Please contact me at https://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback for the download link.
Thanks,

With the launch of Mac OS Catalina around the corner I wanted to be proactive and verify that Fetch v.5.7.7 will work with the new OS. Jim, have you done any testing on the Public BETA of Catalina? Will there be a new version of fetch that complies with Macs 64bit compatibility requirement?
Reason I am asking is that I read an article stating that Catalina will not support 32bit apps. Can you confirm that we will be covered when upgrading to Catalina?
source of the article i read is: https://www.macrumors.com/guide/32-bit-mac-apps/
Looking forward to your response.
