Fetch could not get “file” because the file is busy and cannot be deleted or overwritten. (3 posts)

  Hi, I am facing this strange error, which I do not face with nay other FTP client I use (to validate if the problem is outside of fetch).

  When I get files from a remote server, onto my local computer, I am unable to overwrite the files if they already exist on my computer. If I delete the existing file manually, then obviously I can download. And I tried this with different locations, and the behaviour is same. I am not sure what is causing this.

  OS: macOS Sonoma 14.3
  Hardware: Apple M1 Pro 32 GB
  Fetch: Version 5.8.3 (5K1506, Web Store)
  Error: Fetch could not get “file” because the file is busy and cannot be deleted or overwritten.

  Has anyone faced similar error lately? What is it that I could be doing wrong?

  Hi,

  Fetch will not overwrite local files unless as part of a mirror download.

  Thanks, for replying, Jim I wss unaware of this. Since all other FTP clients allow this, I thought there was somethign wrong with my configuration or a bug.
