Dragging a file from one server to another is an automated way to download from one and upload to the other; the data does pass through your Mac as an intermediary. It may be faster than downloading and then uploading, because the downloading and uploading overlap.
Thanks,

Good to know, thanks Jim. I don't suppose there's any way to remove my computer from the equation?
Thanks!

Fetch has an option in the Obscure section of Preferences called "Use direct server-to-server transfers". That takes your computer out of the equation. Unfortunately, it rarely works, which is why it is turned off by default. But it doesn't do any harm to try it.
Thanks,

Hello all,
I'm posting from Turkey where our internet is not so hot.
I recently discovered dragging files from one server to another with Fetch, when one says 'Transmitting' and its counterpart 'Receiving'.
I would just like to confirm, this is a transfer between the two servers, and does not involve my computer as an intermediary. Is this correct?
If otherwise, is it faster than me downloading all the files then uploading them?
Thanks,
Ross
