To change the permissions you should select the files, click Get Info, and then enter 777 in the permissions field (in the Ownership and Permissions pane of the info window). If that does not work could you post the transcript?
Thanks,

Hello there,
I am attempting to install cutenews (free content management system), but I'm running into a bit of a problem:
The /data folder (as well as each file inside of it) has to have a CHMOD setting of 777. When you download the zip file from cutephp.com, most of the files are set to 664, so they have to be manually changed. When I try to do this, I get this message:
--
Fetch could not send the command "SITE UNMASK 777" because the FTP server sent an unexpected response.
Check the Fetch Transcript window for more information. Server responded: "'SITE UNMASK 777': command not understood"

I checked the transcript window, but all it did was give me the same message as above.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
