Hi,
Thanks for contacting us about this. To figure out exactly what is going on it would be very helpful if I could take a look at your Fetch.log file. To find that file:
1) In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder…" from the Go menu
2) Enter:~/Library/com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch/Logs/
and click Go
You can email the file to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com .
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

After installing mac OS X 10.7, when I now try to open Fetch and click on try, I get a pop up window saying 'the action could not be completed because you do not the required permissions to download to your local folder'. I have tried running the first aid option on keychain access application, but this failed to solve the problem. I have also tried reinstalling Fetch. When it tries to open the preferences is greyed out so I can't change the download folder. I must then force quit Fetch. When using a new account Fetch works. I deleted all of the preference files in my own account but I can't understand why Fetch does not go back to the default "downloads" folder and stays stuck on the folder that seems to have changed permissions in the 10.7 install.

Hi Judy,
Thanks for contacting us. I'd like to figure out exactly what permission Fetch is having trouble with, since that should suggest a solution. Could you let me know what version of Fetch you are running?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I have tried to do the Go To Folder bit and it says the file doesn't exist.
~/Library/com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch/Logs/
I'm running OS 10.8.2.
Please help. I need to resolve this issue ASAP.
I cannot use Fetch in any login.

Hi Donny,
What version of Fetch do you have? And what happens when you try to open Fetch?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I'm using version 5.3, and it opens, I can log in to any ftp connection I have, but I cannot actually download anything.

What happens when you try to download something? Do you get an error message?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Thanks. The first thing I'd suggest is choosing "Preferences…" from the Fetch menu, clicking on the Download tab, and changing the "Save downloaded files to:" menu to something else (e.g. the Desktop folder). Does that make a difference?
If not, could you let me know what version of Mac OS X you are running?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

It was trying to download to Desktop that had a red dot in it. I've changed that now. Problem fixed. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue as the original post on this thread, and the one that followed. I get the message "The action could not be completed because you do not the required permissions to download to your local folder" when I click on the Try button in the first dialog window that comes up at application launch. I am trying to use Fetch 5.7.3.
Although I see the posts on this thread I did not see a note on how to resolve this.
Thanks.

After reinstalling mac OS X 10.6.3, when I now try to open Fetch and click on try, I get a pop up window saying 'the action could not be completed because you do not the required permissions to download to your local folder'. I have tried running the first aid option on keychain access application, but this failed to solve the problem. I have also tried reinstalling Fetch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ian
