Fetch does automatically detect some host key issues, but the error message is poor for this one. We hope to improve this message in a future release.
Thanks,

I am seeing this error message for the first time today. I have been a Fetch user since 2005 and considered myself to be somewhat tech savvy, but this one has me stumped. If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be premendously appreciated. HELP!
Thanks!

Hi,
Here's how you can fix it:
1) In the Finder, choose "Go to Folder…" from the Go menu and enter:
~/.ssh
and click Go
2) Drag the "known_hosts" file to the trashAlternatively, you can edit the known_hosts file with a text editor (like BBEdit) and remove the line for the host you are trying to connect to.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Thanks again, Jim! (I just ran into this problem again, and Googled "Fetch Mac OS 24010" and found this thread again... back in business! :)

That fix worked for me yesterday. Today, I am getting the same error Mac OS error -600 when I try to edit a file from the server with "edit with".

Hi Beverly,
What editor are you trying to edit the file with? Is the editor application running when you try the command?
Thanks,

I used Fetch to connect to an SFTP server this morning and edited a file.
This afternoon I started up Fetch, opened a connection and got an error.
The message I got read:
SFTP connection to "this.is.where.my.actual.hosts.name.was" could
not be opened because an error has occured.
Mac OS error 24010
I attempted to connect to the same service with Cyberduck and got an error about a host key mismatch.
I contacted my host and they said they did just change keys so it was all cool.
I updated my host keys and everything was fine.
Why does Fetch give such an esoteric error when it seems to be a fairly simple problem?
