Mac OS error trying to save a password (7 posts)

    Hi all,

Lately when I've been using Fetch, when I try to save a password or create a new shortcut I get the following message:

"These settings cannot be used because an error has occurred.
    Mac OS error -2147408890"

I'm using Mac OS 10.14.6 (Mojave) on a 2017 iMac.

I've looked online but can't find out what that error code means. Anybody have an idea? Thanks!

    Hi,

That may be an error from the macOS keychain. Please do the following to check for and repair problems with the keychain:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu
    * Open the Keychain Access application
    * Control-click the lock in the upper left corner of the window to lock the login keychain
    * Control-click the lock again to unlock the login keychain (you will be prompted for your login password)

Let me know if you're still having problems after doing this.

    Thanks,

Thanks! But, it's still giving me the error message after I tried this. Sorry!

It was suggested to me that I need to upgrade my Fetch (I'm running 5.3.1) to make the error go away, but the upgrade is $10. Is there any way to fix this without upgrading?

    Thanks again,

    Hi,

Fetch 5.3.1 won't work on 10.14 Mojave (which was released ten years after Fetch 5.3.1). I would recommend upgrading to Fetch 5.7.7.

    Thanks,

Thanks! OK, I upgraded, but now it's asking me for my Fetch name and serial number. I have the serial number but I have NO idea what the "name" is. How do I find that out?

    Thanks again,

    Hi,

Your Serial Number Name is usually your name, otherwise it's your company name. It should be displayed on the email receipt you received when you upgraded, next to your new serial number.

    Thanks,
