I am making a site that is supposed to contain many movies. When I upload these movies in fetch it takes about 2 hours a movie. Why is it taking so long!? This is very annoying. Is there a way to prevent this?

    Hi,

As I mentioned in my reply to your iWeb question, movie files tend to be large - much larger than photos - and home Internet connections upload files fairly slowly, so I would not be surprised if movie uploads take a long time.

The slow speeds are not under Fetch's control; it is most likely uploading as fast as it can, but it's limited by the maximum upload speed your Internet provider allows. Since most users spend much more time downloading (which includes viewing web pages or multimedia files) than they do uploading, high speed Internet providers have designed their systems to give priority to downloading.

One option to reduce upload time is to try to compress your movies more (or try using a different compression method), or reduce their dimensions (width and height), which will reduce their file size.

Another option is to contact your Internet provider, and see if they offer a different level of service that uploads faster (many do offer a faster service, for an additional fee).

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
