It is possible to keep operations going while a menu is down (in any sort of Mac OS X program), but making the necessary changes in Fetch has not been a high priority to date. I should note that some operations -- such as data transfers -- do keep going while menus are down, but their progress is not displayed until after you release the mouse button (so you may see a jump in bytes transferred when you release a menu).
Thanks,

Hi Jim
As many others have done, I too want to thank you for updating Fetch and making such a great FTP client available to Mac OS X users. (And I'll also iterate my need for both sftp and long-filename support :o)
One thing that I noticed tonight as I was downloading a bunch of files was that when I pulled down one of the menus from the menu bar, file transfers completely halt. Then when I let go of the menu, they continue. (Everything halts when the "About Fetch" window is open as well.)
I know this was a problem with the entire system when we used Mac OS 9, but is that still a problem with all Carbon-based programs? Can making Carbon-based programs multithreaded fix that problem?
I just wanted to point that out and see what the issues involved with it are.
Thanks a lot.
