"Server says you do not have the required permissions" (4 posts)

I'm trying to upload multiple files to my web server to upgrade some forum software. Doing one file at a time seems to work, but whenever I do more than that, the process will fail at a random point with the message:

"Fetch could not put "file" because the server says you do not have the required permissions.

Server responded: Can't open that file, input/output error".

I can then retry the process and the problematic file will work, but the copy will fail at a later point.

I also get the same error when deleting files. The files are standard vbulletin files so are fairly short filenames with no strange characters in them.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

This sounds like it is most likely a server problem; it sounds like the server gives errors when you are transferring bunches of files to it.

But we can investigate a little to confirm that.

Which version of Fetch are you using?

And the next time it happens, can you please send a transcript to us?

To do this, after you get the error message when uploading, please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and send them to:

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I'm using Fetch 5.1. I am starting to think its a server error too, but it doesn't make any sense. It also doesn't matter if i do one file at a time, sometimes that will fail too.

Here is the transcript from a failure:

    Hi,

    Thanks for the transcript.

That does look like a server error, but you should try updating to Fetch 5.2.1, the current version, and see if by chance that helps - we overhauled the networking code in 5.2. (The update is free for you.)

If that doesn't help, I would contact the folks who run the server and discuss the problem with them.

    Thanks,
