Yesterday I turned on my computer, opened up Fetch, and my shortcut list was gone. Not only is the list gone, but I'm unable to create any new shortcuts. I'm on OS 10.2.8. if I try to open up the shortcuts window I also get an error message (error number -50). My recent connections are still intact.

It sounds like the "Fetch Shortcuts" file (which is located in the Preferences folder of the Library folder of your home folder) is corrupt. I would recommend restoring it from a backup. If that isn't possible I would remove the file that is there (while Fetch is not running) so that you can create new shortcuts; but in that scenario you will lose the shortcuts you had. You can also try emailing the file to bugs @ fetchsoftworks.com and I'll see if the shortcuts can be salvaged.

    Thanks,

I just had the same thing happen. Poof - error -50. Replacing or even finding the information for 60 support ftp addresses is not a happy prospect.

What is causing this? And is there no way to recover the addresses??

My best guess is that the disk or OS is having a hiccup while writing changes to the file. If you don't have a backup send your Fetch Shortcuts file to the address mentioned above and I'll try to recover the information.
