    Hi,

I'm using Fetch to download audio files of my work's FTP Server. they have us set our clients to "Require implicit FTP over TLS" to connect. The recent files I've been trying to download have been about a gigabyte in size. The throughput with Fetch has been a half a megabyte a second. My connection to the internet is a up to 300 MB through Spectrum. I also downloaded Filezilla with which downloaded the same files with a throughput of 36mb/s

I've set my connection per the instructions and my port is set to 990. Is there anything I can look at to further troubleshoot this?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You might check whether Filezilla is reporting speeds in bits or bytes; Fetch uses bytes (there are 8 bits per byte). But even that would not explain the 72-fold difference you are observing. I don't have a good explanation for why downloads would be so slow. Do you see such low speeds downloading from other servers?

    Thanks,

Connecting to a different sever, downloading 2 different files 655mb in size Filezilla has a throughput average of 9 MiB/s while Fetch averaged 2 mb/s

Taking a look at the Fetch Transcripts of the connections, it noted, "Connecting to <ftpserver>.org port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is limiting connections to specific applications) (06/23/2017, 7:19 AM)"

"Connecting to <ftpserver>.org port 990 with TLS/SSL (Mac OS X firewall is limiting connections to specific applications) (06/23/2017, 7:34 AM)"

One other note today, I went to to the firewall settings and added a specific exemption for Fetch. It had no effect on the speed.

Thanks for that additional information. Unfortunately, I don't have an good theories as to why Fetch is so slow for you. I'll follow up if I think of anything.
