I purchased Fetch yesterday after using WS_FTP Pro on pc's for years. I have not been able to download the program. Have tried the download button in the cart, the link in the confirmation email and the primary and secondary servers on the website. I sent an email to Fetch but decided to try this also. Am new to Mac so I may be missing something on this end. Thanks!

    Hi,

What happens when you use any of those links? Do you get an error? Does a "downloads" window open?

If you are not getting an error, here's what's supposed to happen: normally when you download Fetch, a file named "Fetch_5.5.1.dmg" will be downloaded, and a window will automatically open showing you the Fetch icon with installation instructions.

Assuming you have a new Mac with the latest version of the operating system, the Fetch_5.5.1.dmg file is in your "Downloads" folder, which there is an icon for on the right-hand side of the Dock.

You can also open the downloads folder by clicking on the Mac's background picture, going to the Go menu, choosing Home, and then looking for the Downloads folder. Open the Downloads folder and see if there's a flie named Fetch_5.5.1.dmg inside it. Double-click on the Fetch_5.5.1.dmg file and the Fetch installation window should appear.

If you aren't getting an error, but don't seem to have the Fetch_5.5.1.dmg file either, let us know and we can give further suggestions.

    Thanks,

With any of the attempts, a new tab (labeled Loading) opens and the icon spins but nothing else happens. I expect to see the usual download mini-window, etc. but do not. No changes in the download folder, i.e., no Fetch_5.5.1.dmg file. I am using Firefox rather than Safari. Do not think that should matter.

Just in case, I closed FF and tried again in Safari, just now. At first the tab said, http://getfetch8.com/Fetch_5.5.1.dm. Then it said Unable to Download Fetch Program, still only in the tab. Nothing in the window itself and no change in the Download folder.

I have been downloading other things to get this new brand new iMac ready for my business. I am using Hughesnet for Internet connection. Just checked and everything looks ok there.

What should I look at next?

    Hi Susan,

Thanks for the additional information. You're right, using Firefox should not matter.

I am not sure why you would have difficulty downloading Fetch in particular; I've checked and our downloads are working.

However, here's what I'd suggest you try next. This suggestion worked for someone else who reported a problem similar to yours.

Try clicking on this link, which is an FTP link instead of an HTTP (web) link - that may work around whatever problem you're experiencing:

    ftp://ftp.fetchsoftworks.com

If you don't have an FTP client already, this link will either open in a web browser or possibly make an icon appear in the Mac OS X Finder. Then try downloading the Fetch_5.5.1.dmg you'll find there.

(If you do have an FTP client already, the link may open in it, or in the FTP client you can just enter "ftp.fetchsoftworks.com" as the hostname to connect to, leave the username and password blank, to connect to our FTP server.)

Let me know if this helps or not.

    Thanks,

I finally got a message: taking too long to respond. Sounds like I have an issue with Hughes, big time!

Will let you know if they are the problem.

    Thanks for your support.

Problem resolved. Blush! My error. I had downloaded a program called Speed Download to try to compensate for my slow Hughes connection. It had gotten messed up but the Mac was still trying to use it instead of the normal download software. Even those of us who have been around computers for years . . .

Thanks for your suggestions and patience!
