In general Fetch just passes back whatever error message the server provides, so my guess is that it's the server that's complaining. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you get the error? Choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu to open it.
Thanks,

I tryed it with an other ftp client, smartFTP and it works well, but not on my mac... :( (mac os 9.2).
the error message which appears, tells me:
/**********************************
Error on user id: Illegal Username.
**********************************/hope thats it what you mean with "Fetch Transcript". if not, please let me know it.
thx. gilles

No, to see the Fetch Transcript you have to choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu. It's a separate window.
Thanks,
