Web pages are encoded in HTML, and the HTML language definition says that special characters have to be encoded as HTML "entities". I would think that Word would do the proper translation (from curly quotes and apostrophes to HTML entities) when you save your document as HTML, but it sounds like it didn't. I would look in Word's help and/or contact Microsoft. If that does not help post the URL of the web page and I will see what I can figure out.
Thanks,

I am brand new to ftp'ing and putting files on a server. Somehow I managed to make my index page and a link work, but I've noticed that everywhere I had an apostrophe or quote mark in my original word document, it appears as a strange symbol on the webpage. I have a G4 and am running OS X10.3.8. Please help!!!
