Fetch 5.7.4 and Yosemite by Jim Matthews

Today we released Fetch 5.7.4, a bug-fix update to Fetch 5.7. This release fixes a number of small bugs, including a couple cosmetic issues with OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

The changes are:

  • Adopted OS X Mavericks code signing
  • Fixed a compatibility problem with some versions of the Bulletproof FTP server
  • Fixed a compatibility problem with the LIST -al command and some FTP servers
  • Fixed a problem creating folders on some SFTP servers
  • Fixed a problem resizing windows from the top edge
  • Fixed a problem uploading files to some SFTP servers
  • Fixed a problem where .DS_Store files were included in uploads
  • Fixed a problem with choosing a default shortcut
  • Fixed a problem with slow scrolling on OS X Mavericks
  • Fixed a version number compatibility issue with some software distribution systems
  • Improved stop button appearance on OS X Yosemite

Fetch 5.7.4 is a free update if you purchased your Fetch license after January 28, 2009; otherwise an upgrade is $10, and a new license is $29. Fetch 5.7.4 is compatible with Intel Macs running OS X 10.5 or newer, including OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

Please download Fetch 5.7.4 from the Fetch Download page, or by choosing Check for Update… from the Fetch menu in an earlier version, and let us know what you think of the new release.

Note: Fetch 5.7.4 is not yet available from the Mac App Store. I will post an update when it becomes available.

  • I’ve been using fetch for a few years now. I just got a new mac used to use iWeb. Where do I get my license number from my old mac to see if I owe $10 or if it’s free for me?

  • Hi,

On your old Mac choose About Fetch from the Fetch menu to see your serial number. [Note: If you bought Fetch from the Mac App Store you won’t see a serial number, but it will say “App Store”.]

Then you can go to http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/upgrade to find out if your upgrade to the latest release is free or $10.

    Thanks,

  • Happy FETCH owner since Y2K and met you from the referral of a top IT pro. He was very right and Fetch and I have been great pals! During a disability, he was my virtual pet, as I did up my site to hold on to my wits thru such challenge. I am fine now and we are popping along grand old pals. FETCH forever!

  • I have purchased and used Fetch for many years now, both for my commercial and non-profit website work. I wonder if there’s any way to adjust the number of streams for upload/downloads in Fetch.

Some of the other FTP software (notably FileZilla) is capable of that feature. I found that this speeds up large file transfers. That would be a nice addition to Fetch. I see there is a way to LIMIT the speed, but have not found a way to enhance it.

Keep up the good work! Happy 2015.

  • Working with Fetch 5.7.4 and a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.1 and am unable to rename folders on the server and also to specify a different file name when using the upload window. Keyboard input is totally disabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

What happens when you try to rename a folder on the server (i.e. select the folder name, hit Return, type a new name, and hit Return again)?

    Thanks,
