    Hi,
Any time I try to download a file, from various servers, at some point when the file is almost done it says "Fetch could not get [file name] because the FTP server encountered an error accessing the file or folder. If you entered a file name, folder, or URL, check that it is correct.
Server responded: Data connection closed, file transfer [file name] aborted."

    What's going on?

It's hard to tell what's happening without some more information. Could you try to download a file, and then (after you get the error message) choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the complete contents of that window? I'll try to figure out what the problem is.

    Thanks,

    Jim Matthews

Sure, thanks. I successfully got the file entitled "Silent Night_Christmas Card", but it screwed up on "I Wish I Was In New Orleans".

It isn't clear why the server is cutting off the transfer before the end. Are you able to use the Resume Download command in the Remote menu to finish the transfer?

    Thanks,

I am able to, but if I'm downloading a whole folder it doesn't continue with the rest of the folder. And I would need to resume almost every file, because they almost never download all the way.

Do you ever have to resume the download more than once, or does the transfer typically complete on the first resume?

Do you see this problem downloading files from ftp://ftp.fetchsoftworks.com/ ? Leave the Username and Password fields empty to connect to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com; there are some multi-megabyte files (copies of Fetch and its help) that you can use for testing.

    Thanks,

I've only ever had to resume it once, but that might just be because it usually messes up near or at the end (and I've only been downloading files under 10mb).

I downloaded a 14mb file from the fetch server twice with no problem, however. It was going much faster than the other server though.

That suggests a problem with the server, such as a slow or unstable connection. You might ask the server administrator if other people are having this problem.
